My Latest WIP
For my 27th birthday this year, I decided to treat myself to a yarn haul from one of my favorite indie yarn dyers, Bonnie, from Green Letter Day. I’ve been eyeing her perfectly curated kits for some time now, so when I noticed she restocked her Over The Rainbow set, I immediately hit Add To Cart and I must say…
Best. Decision. Ever.
After crocheting blankets for everyone in the family but myself, I’m planning on turning these skeins into something magical just for me!
I’m calling it:
“Little [Big] Hexie Blanket” and yes, there will be a pattern 🙂

I’ve started with a basic, flexible idea. Large hexagons featuring every skein from the set in color order, then rotating the colors in each hexie so I have an equal amount of yarn usage. (Thank you, Bonnie, for this helpful tip!) I went with an off-white trim, but since taking these photos, I have changed that last part to -light pink- and I am SO pleased.
I’m using Lion Brand Coboo for the trim. I normally don’t mix wool with cotton…but since both yarns have a similar gauge and look/feel fabulous together, I said, “Screw it!” and went with it anyway. My blanket, my rules! [insert: “It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to”]
I will be using a slip stitch method to join the hexies as I go. Once everything is seamed together, I’ll fill in the gaps along the borders of the blanket with half-hexies. For those, I’m not sure what the color scheme will be yet. I’ll make up my mind eventually, and inevitably change it ten times, of course. But it’ll get done one way or another!
For the final border: I have absolutely no idea.

Let’s just hope I finish this before winter, because I’m really wanting to snuggle up on the couch under this blanket with a cup of tea and a good book. Possibly a crime documentary or two. Also, lots of snacks. You know the drill.
I’ll continue to share my progress with this project both here on my blog and on Instagram. I hope you all follow along and yell at me whenever I’m taking too long to get this blanket (and the pattern!) finished! 🙂 Happy Friday, friends! See you next weekend.

It’s beautiful! Can’t wait to watch your progress.
Thank you! I’m really enjoying the process so far. 🙂
